Photo of Captain Scott MatthewsCaptain Scott Matthews began his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Gulfport Police Department in 1994. He then went on to work for the Tampa Police Department before establishing a career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 2003. He serves as the commander of the Child Protection Investigation Division. One of only seven sheriff's offices in Florida that handles child protection, the division is responsible for investigating allegations of child abuse, abandonment, and neglect within Pinellas County and ensuring the safety of the children of Pinellas County.
