PINELLAS COUNTY – On May 16, 2023, at approximately 7:50 a.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the intersection of Tampa Road and East Lake Woodlands Parkway to investigate a fatal vehicle vs motorcycle crash.

According to investigators, 19-year-old Conner Holmes was traveling westbound on Tampa Road on a 2023 Yamaha motorcycle, approaching East Lake Woodlands Parkway. A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado truck, driven by 69-year-old Harold Ellerby, made a left turn from Tampa Road into the entrance of East Lake Woodlands. As Ellerby turned and was in the middle of the intersection, Holmes struck the right rear of the truck. Investigators say Holmes was ejected from the motorcycle.  

Holmes was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Next-of-kin was notified.

Ellerby was uninjured.

According to investigators, speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
