Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Dunedin Man for Possession of Child Pornography.

When:
The suspect was arrested at about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Where:
A residential search warrant was conducted at 647 Weathersfield Drive in Dunedin.

The suspect was arrested at the Sheriff’s Administration building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Dunedin Man for Possession of Child Pornography.

According to detectives, their investigation began after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified 74-year-old Richard Harvey as the suspect.

Detectives obtained a search warrant from the Sixth Judicial Circuit for Harvey’s residence and executed it on Wednesday, August 26, 2020. During the search, investigators discovered several thumb drives containing child pornography.

Investigators conducted an interview with Harvey where he admitted to owning the pornographic images.

Harvey was charged with 19 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation continues.
