The crash occurred at about 9:45 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2020.

Where:
The crash occurred near 1750 Main Street in the Westbound lane.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team investigate a fatal vehicle versus motorcycle crash in Dunedin.

According to investigators, 38-year-old Josue Vega-Rodriguez was travelling Westbound on Main Street on his 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Investigators say 79-year-old Larry Smith was travelling Eastbound on Main Street and made a left turn to enter a parking lot. Smith turned into Vega-Rodriguez’s path where the two collided.

Vega-Rodriguez sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northside Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Smith was not injured.

Investigators say speed or impairment do not appear to be factors in this case.

The investigation continues.
