Law enforcement agencies in Pinellas County have received numerous inquiries about use-of-force and related policies in light of national events originating in Minneapolis.

Specifically, we have received inquiries related to the “8 Can’t Wait” campaign and compliance with those recommendations.

Law enforcement leaders throughout Pinellas County have communicated collectively and are working together to ensure compliance with best practices.

The largest agencies in the county, including Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater Police Department, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, and St. Petersburg Police Department, have compiled the attached documents in response to the inquiries and recommendations.

Chief Luke Williams, Chair of Pinellas Police Standards Council, says, “I commend our agency heads for working together to improve the quality of law enforcement and continually enhancing the professionalism of Pinellas County law enforcement in service of our community.”

Pinellas County law enforcement agencies are aware of our citizens’ concerns and are working toward common goals and unified policies to ensure confidence between law enforcement and the citizens we serve.
