What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a fatal vehicle vs pedestrian crash in Seminole.

When:
The crash occurred at about 9:23 p.m. on July 09, 2019.

Where:
The crash occurred on Seminole Boulevard, just north of 66th Avenue North, in Seminole.

Why/How:
According to investigators, 71-year-old Ronald Lake was operating his 2003 Toyota Tundra northbound in the curb lane of Seminole Boulevard passing through the green traffic signal at 66th Avenue North.

The pedestrian, a 50-year-old woman, was walking along the sidewalk on the east side of Seminole Boulevard, just north of 66th Avenue North, when she stepped into the roadway in front of Lake’s Toyota Tundra.

Lake was unable to take any preventative action before striking the woman in the roadway.

Paramedics responded and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.

During the course of the investigation, deputies learned the woman had been drinking alcohol with her boyfriend behind a business located at 6595 Seminole Boulevard, prior to the crash.

Lake showed no signs of impairment and provided two voluntary blood samples.

Deputies say the woman was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash. Speed was also not a factor in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
