The incident occurred at about 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017.

How/Why:  
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are conducting a death investigation after a man is found shot and killed.

According to detectives, at about 10:47 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2017, deputies responded to Andrea Cove Motel located at 10464 106^th Avenue North in Largo, regarding a report of a shooting.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim, identified as 47-year-old Ricky Garland, lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Garland was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. At 12:05 a.m. he was pronounced deceased.

Detectives say witnesses observed an unknown vehicle leaving the area after the shooting.

Next of kin has been notified.
