The suspect was arrested at about 2:30 pm on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Where:
The crime occurred at a private residence in Safety Harbor.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Safety Harbor man for sexual battery on a minor.

According to detectives, their investigation began on April 28, 2017, ​after the 14-year old victim informed an adult. Detectives say the victim went to a friend’s house where she fell asleep in a chair. When she awoke, the suspect, 20-year-old Eric Clark, was in the act of having inappropriate sexual contact with her.Detectives say the victim attempted to resist Clark’s inappropriate sexual contact and was not successful.

Investigators reported that Clark is known to the victim.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to corroborate the victim’s allegations.

At about 11:30 am on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, detectives interviewed Clark at the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Clark admitted to the allegations.

Clark was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

Clark was charged with one count of Sexual Battery.

The investigation continues.
