Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Tae Kwon Do Instructor for lewd and lascivious molestation.

According to detectives, their investigation began on January 27, 2016, when one of the victims disclosed to her mother that the suspect touched her inappropriately. The mother in turn contacted the Sheriff’s Office.

Through their investigation detectives determined that between 2014 and 2015 the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Andrew Jim Kim, touched both female victims in an inappropriate manner while the victims were undressed. Kim then instructed the victims to keep the incidents a secret.

Through various investigative techniques, it was determined that Kim had access to the victims at Oh’s Tae Kwon Do located at 7520 Seminole Blvd. in Seminole, where he was employed as an instructor.

On February 5, 2016, detectives interviewed Kim and he admitted to the allegations. Kim was arrested and charged with two counts of Lewd & Lascivious Molestation.

He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Detectives believe that due to Kim being a Tae Kwon Do instructor, he may have had contact with other children. Anyone with information regarding this investigation or any other potential victims are asked to please contact the Detective M. Kolenda with the Crimes Against Children’s Unit at (727) 582-6200.

The investigation continues.

Kim’s booking photo will be available once the booking process is complete.
