Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man for lewd and lascivious molestation.

According to detectives their investigation began in August 2015, when the victim notified his mother that the suspect had touched him inappropriately. After reporting the incident to the authorities, the victim disclosed to detectives that earlier this summer the suspect, 41-year-old Shawn Daly offered him gifts, sexual favors, and touched him inappropriately.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives confirmed that Daly had access to the victim at his residence over the summer.

Detectives interviewed Daly at the Sheriff’s Administration Building where he was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

In 2011, Daly was named in a police investigation involving similar circumstances in Lousiana. He was not charged with a crime in that investigation.

Detectives believe that Daly may have had contact with other children. Anyone with information regarding this investigation or any other potential victims are asked to please contact the Crimes Against Children’s Unit at (727) 582-6200.

The investigation continues.
