What:                 
Deputies assigned to the Marine Unit are investigating the death of a female pit bull. 

When:
Marine deputies began their investigation at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2015.

Where:
Marine deputies responded to the waterway adjacent to the Weedon Island Preserve located at 1601 Weedon Drive NE, in Unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Why/ How:
Deputies assigned to the Marine Unit are investigating the death of a female Pitbull. 

Deputies say that a fisherman found the deceased dog floating in the waterway near a channel leading into the Bartow Power Plant, just off the Weedon Island Preserve.

When deputies arrived, they determined that someone had tied a short rope around the dog’s neck and attached a cinder block to the rope leaving the dog in the water.    

Deputies described the dog as a brindle or brown colored female pit bull with a white colored belly.

The dog’s remains were recovered from the waterway and the remains were released to SPCA of Tampa Bay.
