Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a St. Petersburg man after he committed a sexual battery on a 14-year-old girl.

When:
The crime occurred on June 1, 2015.

Where:
The crime occurred at a private residence in Pinellas County.

Why/How:
According to investigators, the victim was in the care of the suspect identified as 39-year-old David Morris when he engaged her in sexual activity.

The victim disclosed the incident to her mother, who in turn reported it to the Sheriff's Office on June 1, 2015.

Crimes Against Children Unit detectives were assigned to investigate.

Morris was arrested at about 3:45 p.m. on June 2nd, 2015 following an interview at the Sheriff's Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

The suspect admitted to the crime.

He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.
