What:
Partnering with several local organizations, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will be involved in a mock traffic accident (Prom Promise) at four Pinellas County High Schools. Prom Promise is a program initiated in an effort to show the dangers of distracted or impaired driving.  

Where:

East Lake High School – 1300 Silver Eagle Drive, Tarpon Springs  (Football Field)

Dixie Hollins High School - 4940 62^nd Street North, St. Petersburg (Football Field)

Seminole High School – 8401 131^st Street North, Seminole (Football Field)

Dunedin High School -   1651 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin (Practice Football Field)  

When:
East Lake High School – The program will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015

Dixie Hollins High School – The program will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015

Seminole High School - The program will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015

Dunedin High School – The program will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015

How/Why:
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting four Prom Promise events throughout the next two months.

The events will be held at four Pinellas County High Schools on four different mornings.

East Lake High School – The program will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2015

Dixie Hollins High School – The program will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015

Seminole High School - The program will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 

Dunedin High School – The program will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2015

Various agencies and first responders will set up a mock crash to promote safe driving. Students from each school will also take part in the presentation.

The purpose of the program is to encourage students to never drive while distracted or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The program will demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving as well as the unlawful use of prescription drugs and their consequences.

Media is invited to attend all four events.
