What:
Detectives are investigating an apparent accidental shooting in Tarpon Springs. The child victim was transported to Trinity Hospital with life threatening injuries where he was later pronounced deceased.

Where:
The incident occurred in the roadway at a private residence located at 1094 Misty Hollow Court, Tarpon Springs.

When:
The incident occurred on January 21, 2015 at approximately 4:47 PM.

How/Why:
Pinellas County Detectives are investigating an apparent accidental shooting in Tarpon Springs. At approximately 4:47 PM deputies responded to an armed person call at a private residence located at 1094 Misty Hollow Court.

According to Pinellas County Detectives, the victim, 2 and a half year old, Kaleb Ahles had entered the vehicle at some point as the family was loading the vehicle to move out of the house. Kevin Ahles, the child’s father, had left a .380 caliber handgun secured in the vehicle.

Kaleb was alone inside the car when the family heard a loud popping sound. They immediately ran to the vehicle. The mother, Christina Nigro, began CPR while family members on scene called 911.

Kaleb was transported to Trinity Hospital via ambulance for life threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The investigation continues.
