The victim is a female who is not known to the suspect. Per Fl. Statute, 119.071(2)(h)1 no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

Address: 790 16^th Avenue South, St. Petersburg

Charges: 
Sexual Battery (Deadly Weapon) and Grand Theft Motor Vehicle

What:
Detectives have identified and arrested the suspect in an armed sexual battery.

Where:
In the area of 54^th Avenue North and 28^th Street North, St. Petersburg. The suspect was arrested at 525 Mirror Lake, Florida Department of Corrections Probation Office.

When:
The suspect was arrested on January 7, 2015 at 4:00PM.   

How/Why:
On December 29, 2014 at 6:44AM the victim was in the area of 54^thAvenue North and 28^th Street North, St. Petersburg. She observed a male subject with a gun, now identified as 28 year old Leandre Snead. He blocked the victim’s way and was holding a handgun in his hand telling her he would kill her.

The victim tried to run but Snead grabbed her and struck her with the gun. Snead hit her in face fracturing the jaw on both sides of her face causing her to fall to the ground. Snead then sexually battered and assaulted the victim. He stole her cell phone, car keys, and fled the area in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was able to get up and call 911 for assistance. She sustained non-life threatening injuries. The victim did not recognize the suspect and he was not known to her.
 
On January 6, 2015 Detectives received confirmation on a DNA match of the Sexual Battery Suspect matching Leandre Snead. Through various investigative techniques along with the DNA evidence, detectives were able to obtain an arrest warrant on Leandre Snead for Sexual Battery (Deadly Weapon) and Grand Theft Motor Vehicle. On January 7, 2015 at 4:00PM Snead was picked up by Detectives and arrested for the active warrants.
