Detectives Release a Second Surveillance Video in an Attempt to Identify Arson Suspect in Seminole

News Release #18-030

Detectives assigned to the Arson & Auto Theft Unit have released a second surveillance video showing the man they say is suspected of setting fires at two churches in Seminole. The suspect is seen in the surveillance video at about 11:39 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, walking in the area of Seminole Boulevard and 59th Avenue North, Seminole.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years of age, thin to medium build, short hair, wearing a dark colored t-shirt, dark colored pants and dark colored shoes.

Suspect
- White male, approximately 20 to 30 years of age, thin to medium build, short hair, wearing a dark colored t-shirt, dark colored pants, dark colored shoes and carrying a large dark colored gym bag.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Arson & Auto Theft Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an arson suspect after two churches were intentionally set on fire in Seminole.

When:
The fires occurred sometime between 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, and 8 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018.

Where:
The incidents occurred at the Seminole United Methodist Church at 5400 Seminole Boulevard, in Seminole and the Universal Harmony Church at 5903 Seminole Boulevard, in Seminole.  

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Arson & Auto Theft Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an arson suspect after two churches were intentionally set on fire in Seminole.

According to detectives, at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018, deputies were called to the Seminole United Methodist Church and the Universal Harmony Church in Seminole, for reports of two suspicious fires.

Detectives say the fires caused minor property damage and no one was injured.

Detectives believe the fires are related and were set intentionally.

Detectives obtained surveillance video of a man who they say is a suspect in the arson investigations. The suspect is seen in the surveillance video at about 12:39 a.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2018, walking southbound in the area of Seminole Boulevard and 63rd Avenue North.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years of age, thin to medium build, short hair, wearing a dark colored t-shirt, dark colored pants, dark colored shoes and carrying a large dark colored gym bag.
