What: 
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested 39-year-old Christopher Scott Horan for second degree murder.

When: 
Detectives say the murder occurred on Saturday, January 27, 2018.

Deputies located the victim at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

The suspect was taken into custody at about 7:33 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018 by Navicent Health Police Department in Macon, Georgia   

Where: 
The victim was found inside of her residence located at 1430 Duncan Loop North, #208, Dunedin.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested 39-year-old Christopher Scott Horan for second degree murder.

Detectives say at about 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018, Horan approached an officer with the Navicent Health Police Department, in the parking lot of Navicent Health Medical Center located at 777 Hemlock Street, Macon, Georgia. Horan informed the officer that he would like to turn himself in for killing his sister, 42-year-old Leanna Horan, during an argument. Horan informed the officer that he stabbed his sister inside her residence located at 1430 Duncan Loop North, #208, Dunedin.

Navicent Health Police Department took Horan into custody while they contacted the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a welfare check at the sister’s residence, based on the information provided by Horan. Navicent Health Police Department also discovered a vehicle registered to Leanna Horan in the parking lot of the Medical Center.  

At about 6:07 p.m. deputies responded to1430 Duncan Loop North, #208, Dunedin, but were unable to make contact with anyone at the apartment. Once deputies were able to enter the residence, they discovered the body of Leanna Horan. The deceased was lying in a large pool of blood and appeared to have multiple stab wounds. Leanna Horan was pronounced deceased by deputies at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Horan was taken into custody at about 7:33 p.m. by Navicent Health Police Department in Macon, Georgia. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Horan for one count of second degree murder, and he was transported to the Bibb County Jail located in Macon, Georgia to await extradition to Pinellas County.

Detectives say the investigation revealed that on Saturday, January 27, 2018, Horan and his sister argued about going out for the night. Detectives say Horan admitted to murdering his sister by stabbing her “too many times” and also to driving her vehicle to Georgia.

Next of kin have been notified.
