Shooting Investigation

Pinellas County detectives have charged 18-year old Bailey Jenkins and 18-year-old Thomas Loudin with an additional charge of shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle. Detectives say the late reported incident occurred at 6850 Beach Plaza on Saturday, October 28 2017, at approximately 0001 hours. The victim Christopher Dalbo was parked with his girlfriend, Heather Shamblin when they heard a distinct “Firecracker Pop” sound and the rear window was shot. A white older sedan was seen traveling south away from the scene.

Pinellas County detectives have arrested two men in the shooting of a man visiting St Pete Beach. Detectives have arrested 18-year old Bailey Jenkins and 18-year-old Thomas Loudin.

Investigators say, through various investigative techniques they were able to identify, locate and arrest both Jenkins and Loudin who detectives say were responsible for shooting the victim 51-year-old Kurt Alan Lang during the early morning hours of Saturday, October 28, 2017, at about 12:16 a.m.

Detectives say the firearm used in the shooting was a high powered pellet gun.  

Both suspects admitted to drinking alcohol, shooting randomly at objects and the victim 51-year-old Kurt Alan Lang who was walking with his cousin near the Beachcomber Resort, 6200 Gulf Boulevard St Pete Beach.

Loudin was arrested at his home located at 6411 Pelican Drive South in St. Petersburg.  He was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and one count shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle.

Detectives say the charge of shooting or throwing a deadly missile into an occupied vehicle is in reference to the Treasure Island case. This case was investigated jointly by Treasure Island Police Department and Pinellas County Detectives.  Loudin was transported to Pinellas County Jail.

Jenkins, was arrested near his home located at 40110 US 19 North in Tarpon Springs. Bailey was charged with one count principal, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation continues and more charges are likely to follow.

Deputies are investigating a shooting in St Pete Beach. The shooting occurred when the victim was reportedly walking on the sidewalk. The victim heard what sounded like a firecracker and noticed he had been shot. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

When: 
Deputies responded to the shooting at about 12:16 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2017.

Why/How: 
Deputies are investigating a shooting in St Pete Beach. The shooting occurred when the victim was reportedly walking on the sidewalk. The victim heard what sounded like a firecracker and noticed he had been shot, he sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, the victim 51-year-old Kurt Alan Lang was walking with his cousin northbound on the west side of Gulf Blvd when they heard what sounded like a firecracker.  The victim, Lang, grabbed his chest and said he thought he had just been shot.  The victim reported he observed a white vehicle driving at normal speeds at the time of the shooting. Lang walked over to the Beachcomber Resort, 6200 Gulf Boulevard and called 911.

Deputies say Lang was treated and transported to Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. His injury appeared to be consistent with a small caliber round.

Deputies say about an hour later they received another call in the area 6850 Beach Plaza, St. Pete Beach, reference a possible white Chevy Impala with four subjects in it driving around with no head lights and the driver was partially out the window with a possible rifle, the driver was only described as possibly a Hispanic or white male, the complainant was unsure of the description. This incident was called in approximately an hour after the subject had been shot. The caller stated he saw the emergency vehicles and decided to make a late report to deputies.

Deputies are attempting to identify and arrest the suspect at this time.
