Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have charged a man for Lewd and Lascivious Molestation after he inappropriately touched a 13-year-old girl in Pinellas County.

Detectives began their investigation on March 1, 2017, after the victim revealed the crime to an adult.

Through their investigation, detectives determined that on multiple occasions in August 2015, the suspect, identified as 84-year-old William Flanders, touched the victim in a sexually inappropriate manner.

It was further determined the incident occurred while the suspect was vacationing with the victim in Pinellas County.

Detectives say through various investigate techniques they were able to confirm the incidents took place.

Flanders was arrested on April 19, 2017, by the Jupiter Police Department at his home located at 6301 Winding Lake Drive, Jupiter Florida on a Pinellas County Warrant. Flanders was charged with one-count Lewd and Lascivious Molestation. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail without incident.

The investigation continues.
