What:
Deputies Arrest Palm Harbor Man For Attempted Murder After He Chokes An Elderly Woman Walking Her Dog.

When:
The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on April 14, 2017.

Where:
The incident occurred at 754 1st Court, Palm Harbor.

How/Why:
Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence at 754 1st Court, in Palm Harbor at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2017, regarding a report of an Assault and Battery call in progress.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they heard screaming and discovered a 75-year-old female being attacked, by 20-year-old Emanuel Qosaj. Emanuel was positioned on top of the 75-year-old female victim, battering, and choking her with a metal dog leash. Deputies say both Emanuel and the 75-year-old victim were walking their dogs when the incident occurred.

Witnesses tried to intervene in the attack but were pushed away by Emanuel. Deputies deployed a Taser, striking Emanuel, and gaining control of the situation allowing them to handcuff Emanuel.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the 75-year-old victim to Mease-Countryside Hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. Emanuel was transported to the same hospital to be medically cleared. During the transport, Emanuel spat on emergency personal.

Deputies say Emanuel’s brothers Alfred Kole Qosaj and Genc Kole Qosaj both interfered in the investigation. Genc struggled with Corporal Peter Eigo, resulting in injuries to his hand. Alfred was arrested and charged with Resisting an Officer without Violence, and Genc for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Resisting Arrest with Violence.

Emanuel was arrested and charged with one count of Simple Battery, two counts of Battery on Emergency Medical Care Provider, and one count of Attempted Felony Murder.

Emanuel, Alfred, and Genc were all transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

The investigation continues.
