The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

Where:
The crash occurred at the intersection of 54^th Avenue North and Seminole Boulevard, in Seminole.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash involving a vehicle vs a pedestrian in Seminole.

According to investigators, 58-year-old James Kellett, was standing in the roadway next to the median, on the north side of the 54^th Avenue North and Seminole Boulevard intersection.

Investigators say that 65-year-old Zinaida Kopriva, was driving her 2010 Honda Fit eastbound on 54^th Avenue North, when she made a left northbound turn onto Seminole Boulevard, with a green traffic light.

Witnesses say that Kellett left the painted safety zone and began walking eastbound across Seminole Boulevard, into the path of Kopriva’s Honda. Kellett was struck by the Honda in the northbound median lane of Seminole Boulevard on the north side of 54^th Avenue North.

Kellett was not utilizing a designated crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Paramedics responded and transported Kellet to Bayfront Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say that Kopriva showed no signs of impairment and she appeared to be driving the speed limit.

The investigation continues.
