Why/How: Detectives assigned to the Special Victims Unit have arrested a St. Petersburg man for ten counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Distributing Child Pornography. According to detectives, their investigation began on May 21st, 2015 when they obtained information that the suspect was downloading child pornography on his computer. Through various investigative techniques detectives identified the suspect as 50-year-old John Long. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s residence where they recovered numerous images and videos that included sexual conduct by children. Detectives interviewed Long and he admitted to the allegations. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail. The juvenile victims contained in the images and videos are not believed to be known to the suspect.
