What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a fatal single motorcycle crash in South Pasadena.

When:
The crash occurred at about 8:57 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Where:
The crash occurred on Pasadena Avenue South, west of Shore Drive in South Pasadena.

How/Why:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a fatal single motorcycle crash in South Pasadena.

According to investigators, a 27-year-old man driving a 2009 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Pasadena Avenue South, when his motorcycle struck the raised cement curb as he approached Shore Drive, in South Pasadena.

The driver lost control of the 2009 Suzuki motorcycle and landed on the roadway after being thrown off the motorcycle.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Paramedics responded to the scene and transported the driver to Bayfront Health Hospital. The driver was pronounced deceased at about 9:30 p.m. on March 25, 2017.

Investigators say that speed and impairment both appear to be factors in the single vehicle crash.

Next of kin has not been notified. An update with the driver’s information will be released as soon as notification has been made.

The investigation continues.
