Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single vehicle motorcycle fatality crash in Seminole.

When:
The incident occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Where:
The crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of Bay Pines Boulevard approaching Seminole Boulevard, just west of the Bay Pines Triangle overpass, in Seminole.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single vehicle motorcycle fatality crash in Seminole.

According to investigators, a 2007 Suzuki motorcycle being driven by, 40-year-old Eric Cahill was traveling eastbound in the median lane of Bay Pines Boulevard, approaching Seminole Boulevard.

Investigators say that Cahill was just west of the Bay Pines Triangle overpass when he lost control of his motorcycle. The motorcycle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, and Cahill was ejected off the motorcycle.

Cahill suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Investigators say that speed was a factor in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
