The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office offers unpaid internships in a variety of areas to undergraduate and graduate students who are eligible to receive college credit for participating. Our internship program can provide students the opportunity to obtain hands-on, practical work experience in areas of the agency including the Patrol Operations Bureau, the Department of Detention & Corrections, Public Relations Bureau, Fiscal Affairs Bureau, Information Technology Bureau, Human Resources Bureau, Forensic Science Division, Threat Management Division.

Internships are generally offered throughout the year in conjunction with academic semesters in the spring, summer, and fall. However, offerings may vary based on operational availability and some offerings may not be available certain times of the year. 

Requirements

  • Complete the intern application
  • Successfully complete the screening and background investigation
  • Provide a letter from an accredited college or university regarding the intention of the internship, hours needed to complete the internship, and naming a liaison between the agency and college/university
  • Provide documentation that the student has a G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher

How to Apply

Submit the completed Internship Application in its entirety to the Human Resources Bureau. Applications can be submitted by standard mail to Post Office Drawer 2500, Largo, FL, 33779-2500, attention to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Human Resources Bureau, or by e-mail to employment@pcsonet.com. You will receive a confirmation upon receipt of your application. Should you have any questions, please contact the Human Resources Bureau at 727-582-6208. 

The process from application submission to approval can take up to 8-weeks. In the interest of time, the following standing application deadlines have been set:

Summer 2023 6/23 2/1/23 - 3/10/23 Last Week of March

Applicants must be present for portions of the application process, therefore, students that are from out of the area should consider their timeframe before beginning the process.
