Colonel David Danzig joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1996 and serves as Commander of the Department of Detention and Corrections. During his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office Colonel Danzig has served as a Patrol Deputy, FTO, Burglary and Pawn Detective, School Resource Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, FTO Sergeant, Administrative Investigations Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, VCTF Unit Commander, Administrative Investigations Commander, Commander of Central District Station, and commander of the Investigative Operations Bureau. He also served on the Marine Unit. Colonel Danzig earned his Bachelor’s degree at St. Leo University.

The Department of Detention and Corrections is the largest department overseeing approximately 1,100 sheriff's office employees and an average daily population of 3,000 inmates.
