PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are seeking the public’s assistance in the investigation of a fatal crash in Treasure Island.

On Saturday, August 7, 2021 at approximately 10:29 p.m., 52-year-old Mark Walters was traveling southbound on Gulf Boulevard in Treasure Island when he left the roadway and drove onto the sidewalk. He struck and killed 46-year-old pedestrian Andrea Hamilton in the area of 10086 Gulf Boulevard. Walters was charged with DUI Manslaughter and remains in the Pinellas County Jail on $50,000 bond.

PINELLAS COUNTY – Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian crash near 10086 Gulf Boulevard in Treasure Island.

According to investigators, officers with the Treasure Island Police Department responded to a crash at approximately 10:29 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021. Deputies say 46-year-old Andrea Hamilton was walking northbound on the west side of Gulf Boulevard using the sidewalk. 52-year-old Mark Walters was driving southbound on Gulf Boulevard when he left the roadway and struck Hamilton on the sidewalk.

Hamilton was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

Walters showed indicators of impairment during the investigation and was arrested. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail and is charged with one count of DUI Manslaughter.

Next of kin has been notified.
