Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested an Oldsmar man for Possession of Child Pornography.

The suspect was arrested at about 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Where:
The suspect was arrested at his residence, located at 500 West St. Petersburg Drive in Oldsmar.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested an Oldsmar man for Possession of Child Pornography.

According to detectives, their investigation began after receiving tips from the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 26-year-old Miguel Angel Vergara Hernandez.

Investigators met with Hernandez in the driveway of his Oldsmar home. Through various investigative techniques, detectives uncovered a large amount of child pornography on his electronic device.

He was charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

The investigation continues.
