COVID-19 Positive Test

On June 3, 2020, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office learned that an inmate records specialist at the Pinellas County Jail tested positive for COVID-19.  This is the second Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office member to have tested positive.

The specialist last worked at the jail on May 28, 2020, and had no symptoms or exposure while at work.

During the specialist’s days off, there was possible exposure during a social setting to a healthcare provider who works around COVID-19 patients.  Following this non-work related exposure, the specialist developed symptoms and was tested for COVID-19.

All staff are assessed and screened daily and any members who display symptoms will be tested and monitored.  Inmate records specialists have minimal to no contact with inmates.

The specialist has not returned to work since the non-work related exposure.  The specialist is recovering and will remain out of work for the foreseeable future.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will continue with mitigation measures we have in place to ensure the safety of our members and inmates.
