The crash occurred at 1761 Main Street (State Road 580) in Dunedin.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a serious two vehicle crash in Dunedin.

According to investigators, 31-year-old Natalie Borgh was driving her 2019 Honda Accord westbound in the designated left turn lane of Main Street in preparation for making a left turn into the shopping plaza at 1761 Main Street.

At the same time, 55-year-old Joseph Camerieri was driving a 1980 Honda C70 motorcycle eastbound in the center lane of Main Street.

Borgh, stated she was waiting for traffic to clear before making a left turn into the plaza. Borgh said she believed the roadway was clear as she turned left, across the eastbound lanes.  She stated she did not see Camerieri in the center lane nor did she recall seeing the motorcycle’s headlight.

Camerieri stated as he drove eastbound on Main Street he observed the Honda Accord begin to turn left in front of him. Camerieri described flashing his high beam multiple times and looked to his right in order to change lanes but observed a vehicle in the curb lane. Camerieri stated he could not avoid the crash and was struck by the front of the Honda Accord.

Camerieri stated the headlight to his motorcycle was on at the time of the crash and turns on automatically when the engine is running. Deputies confirmed the headlight functioned properly; turning on and off with the engine.

The driver of the motorcycle, Joseph Camerieri, was transported to the hospital with a serious, but non-life threatening injury.

Borgh and her passenger, 44-year-old Martiwinie Holmes, remained on scene with no complaints of injury.

Deputies say excessive speed nor impairment appear to be a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
