Deputies And Local Police Agencies To Conduct County-Wide DUI Wolf Pack This Weekend For "Saturation Saturday" Campaign

What:
In an effort to reduce DUI related injuries and deaths, deputies and local law enforcement will join the national MADD “Saturation Saturday” campaign this weekend and conduct a Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County.

When:
The operation will begin at 7 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019, and continue until 5 a.m., Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Where:
Deputies and other law enforcement officers will monitor traffic throughout Pinellas County.

Why/How:
Pinellas County deputies, in conjunction with the Clearwater Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Gulfport Police Department, Indian Shores Police Department, Kenneth City Police Department, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department, and the Tarpon Springs Police Department will join the national MADD “Saturation Saturday” campaign this weekend and conduct a Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County.

They will maintain a proactive profile over the weekend on the highly-traveled roadways of Pinellas County.

The operation will begin at 7 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019, and continue until 5 a.m., Sunday, August 25, 2019.

The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.

This DUI Wolf Pack operation is dedicated to Yvonne Meyers. Yvonne was 18-years old when she was killed by a drunk driver after being involved in a crash on June 18, 1992, near the intersection of US Highway 19 and Drew Street in Clearwater. Yvonne was a passenger in a vehicle that was being driven by a drunk driver.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), Chaplains Outreach Ministries and the Suncoast Safety Council will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.

The media is invited to attend the “Saturation Saturday” DUI Wolf Pack briefing that will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2019. The briefing will be at the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Members of MADD will be present to support their mission of a Nation of No More Victims.
