Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian crash that seriously injured a man in Dunedin.

According to investigators, 53-year-old Benjamin Hofrichter was driving his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Belcher Road, approaching the intersection of Winchester Drive and Belcher Road.

For unknown reasons, 47-year-old Brian Anderson was jogging and tried crossing Belcher Road from east to west, into the path of Hofrichter’s Grand Cherokee. Hofrichter could not stop in time and his Grand Cherokee struck Anderson.

Paramedics transported Anderson via Bayflight to the hospital for serious injuries. Hofrichter was uninjured.
