Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day

Over 130 children are expected (children of sheriff’s office members will be participating in the event)

What:
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a day long program (7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) of presentations and educational activities for the children of agency members as part of the annual “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.”

Children ages 8 to 14 have been invited to participate. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri will greet the children during the cookout lunch.

Where:
The event will be held primarily at the Pinellas County Jail Complex, located at 14400 49th Street North in Clearwater. There will also be field trips to the Sheriff’s Office Hangar at the St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport and to the Pinellas County Justice Center at 14250 49th Street North in Clearwater.  

When:
The “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” event will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

How/Why:
“Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day” is an opportunity for the children of Sheriff’s Office and Pinellas County Justice Center employees to be exposed to the various professional vocations at the Sheriff’s Office. Children 8 to 14 have been invited to participate. Children participating in the event will have an opportunity to get an inside look at various areas of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Visit to the Airport Hangar – Display of Sheriff’s Office helicopters and special operations vehicles
SWAT Presentation
Detention Investigation Unit Presentation
Corrections Response Team (CRT) Demonstration
Forensics Presentation
Jail Tour

The media is invited to cover the event.

Media covering the event is asked to come during the K-9 demonstration at the Pinellas County Jail from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.. Please meet Corporal Lorraine Hinson at the security checkpoint entrance to the Pinellas County Jail, at 8:45 a.m..
