***Update*** Pinellas Safe Harbor Residents "Take A Bite Out of Grime"

The fourth annual "Take a Bite Out of Grime!" event held today, February 25, 2017, was a success with more than 120 Pinellas Safe Harbor residents participating.

The event concluded with the collection of the following totals:
13,320 lbs. of  trash
160 lbs. of aluminum
1,440 lbs. of steel
Grand Total of 14,920 pounds (1,600 pounds recycled)

All of the trash collected was removed from its discarded location and deposited into proper receptacles.

Participants were served lunch afterwards and many of them won prizes and bicycles donated by the Walmart Supercenter of Largo.

Thanks to the residents of Pinellas Safe Harbor, our community partners, and the hard working members of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, this event was a success.

What:
Pinellas Safe Harbor clients are set to participate in the 4th annual “Take a Bite Out Of Grime” event; a community clean up event around Pinellas Safe Harbor and the Highpoint Area.

When:
The clean-up effort is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

8:00 - Welcoming Remarks and Guests Speakers

9:00 - Clients/volunteers shuttled to various locations for clean up

12:00 - Clean-up ends. Clients/volunteers start return to Pinellas Safe Harbor

12:15 - 2:00 p.m. Lunch Served/prizes for residents/closing remarks

Where:
Event begins at Pinellas Safe Harbor located at 14840 49th Street North in Clearwater.

Why/How:
Pinellas Safe Harbor clients and other volunteers are set to clean up the Highpoint area in an effort dubbed “Take a Bite Out Of Grime.”

Pinellas Safe Harbor, the Sheriff’s Special Services Section and Community Policing Deputies coordinated the event that will transport dozens of Pinellas Safe Harbor clients and other volunteers to various locations around the Highpoint area to pick up litter.

The clean-up locations are as follows:

  • 142nd Avenue North & US 19 North (wooded area)
  • 2833 Roosevelt Boulevard (wooded area along 61st Street North )
  • 59th Street North & Roosevelt Boulevard (wooded area southwest corner)
  • 6225 Ulmerton Road (wooded area just north of location)
  • Wind Tree Drive & 150th Avenue North (area toward the bridge)
  • 2677 Roosevelt Boulevard (area around Walmart)
  • 118th Avenue North & US 19 North (wooded area north of pond)
  • Triangle at Bay Pines Boulevard & Seminole Boulevard

Through their effort the clients will be giving back to the community.

The clients will also have the opportunity to earn community service hours as part of their volunteer work.

Following the clean-up, lunch will be served back at Pinellas Safe Harbor.
