Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating the death of a Michigan man after a single vehicle crash in South Pasadena.

According to investigators, the victim 69-year-old Larry Inch, was driving a 2017 Kia Rio rental car, northbound in the northbound lanes of Pasadena Avenue, in South Pasadena.

Witnesses informed investigators that Inch’s Kia stopped in traffic on Pasadena Avenue, near the intersection of Shore Drive. Inch was seen slumped over the steering wheel and unresponsive.

Good Samaritans tried rendering aide to the victim but the windows on the Kia were up and the vehicle was locked. The Kia rolled northbound through the intersection, drove over the sidewalk, and crashed into bushes on the east side of Pasadena Avenue.

When deputies arrived on scene, they had to break the windows on the Kia to gain access to the victim.

Inch was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he was pronounced dead at about 11 a.m., on Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Investigators suspect that Inch suffered a medical related issue prior to the crash.

Investigators don’t believe that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified.
