The victim is currently a 19-year-old female who is known to the suspect. The crime occurred when the victim was between the ages of 13 to 17-years old. Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(j)1, no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Seminole man after he had inappropriate sexual activity with a girl between the ages of 13 to 17 years of age.

When:
The crimes occurred between June 2009 and July 2016.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at approximately 10:40 p.m.

Where:
The crimes occurred at a private residence in Pinellas County.

Why/How:
According to detectives, their investigation began on February 7, 2017 when the 19 year old victim disclosed to an adult at her school, that she had inappropriate sexual contact with the suspect, 47-year-old William Walls, when she was between the ages of 13 and 17 years of age.

Crimes Against Children detectives were notified of the inappropriate sexual activity. Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to determine that the incidents did in fact take place.

Detectives interviewed Walls at about 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Detectives say that Walls confessed to the sexual battery allegations.

Walls was arrested at about 10:41 p.m. on February 7, 2017, and was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. 

Walls was charged with two counts of Sexual Battery-Familial Authority.
