What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested a gas station robbery suspect in Pinellas County.

When:
The first robbery occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at the Citgo 8195 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

The second and third robberies occurred on December 3, 2017, about 8:45 p.m. at the Speedway gas station located at 11708 Seminole Boulevard and at about 11:00 p.m. at the Circle K gas station, 3170 Tampa Road, Oldsmar.

Where:
The robberies occurred at the Citgo gas station 8195 Ulmerton Road, Largo, the Speedway gas station located at 11708 Seminole Boulevard, Largo, and the Circle K gas station, 3170 Tampa Road, Oldsmar.

Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested two men following three gas station robberies in Pinellas County.

According to detectives, two suspects entered the Citgo Gas Station located at 11708 Seminole Boulevard at approximately 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

The suspects were armed with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun. Once inside the gas station, the suspects demanded money from the store clerk. The suspects then fled the gas station with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both suspects exited the gas station and left in a vehicle occupied by a third suspect. The suspects were involved in another armed robbery in the City of Largo earlier the same evening.

At about 8:45 p.m. on December 3, 2017, the same two suspects robbed the Speedway gas station located at 11708 Seminole Boulevard, Seminole.

At about 11:00 p.m. on December 3, 2017, the two suspects robbed the Circle K gas station, at 3170 Tampa Road, Oldsmar.  Shortly after the Oldsmar robbery, deputies observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle flee from the scene. With the assistance of Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, deputies followed the suspect vehicle until patrol deputies engaged the vehicle and the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the unincorporated Largo area. K-9 deputies located the man, 24-year-old James France, hiding in the backyard of a Largo residence. 

France sustained a dog bite after he refused to comply with deputies. France was transported to Northside Hospital for minor injury. After being released from the hospital, France was charged with loitering, prowling and resisting arrest without violence. Additional criminal charges are possible.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to identify one of the armed robbery suspects as 24-year-old Roderick Greene. Detectives say Greene was responsible for the robberies in Largo and Oldsmar.

On December 4, 2017, Largo Police detectives located and arrested Greene for multiple counts of armed robbery. Pinellas detectives charged Greene with three additional counts of armed robbery.

Greene is currently housed at the Pinellas County Jail.

Investigators say Largo Police detectives have probable cause for the arrest of 23-year-old Willie Cunningham with regards to armed robberies in their jurisdiction. Pinellas detectives would like to question Cunningham who is also a person of interest in the Largo and Oldsmar robberies.
