Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single vehicle crash involving a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

When:
The crash occurred at approximately 6:51 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016.

Where:
The crash occurred at 10195 Bay Pines Road, just west of the intersection of 100^th Way and Bay Pines Boulevard in Seminole.

Why/How:

According to deputies, at approximately 6:51 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2016, 23-year-old Robyn Joyce was traveling westbound on Bay Pines Boulevard, just west of the intersection of 100^th Way, in the median lane in her 2003 Saturn Ion.

As Joyce was passing 10195 Bay Pines Boulevard, 59-year-old Joseph Puccio was crossing Bay Pines Boulevard from north to south when he was struck in the median lane by Joyce’s Saturn Ion.

Deputies say Puccio was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash.

Puccio was transported to Bayfront Medical Center via ambulance with life-threatening injuries.

Speed was not a factor, and the driver showed no signs of impairment.

The investigation continues.
