What:
Deputies assigned to North District  have arrested a Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office School Crossing Guard for aggravated assault with a firearm after he discharged a weapon following a domestic related argument.

When:
The School Crossing Guard was arrested at about 10:14 p.m. on March 13, 2016.

Where:
The crime occurred at a private residence in Dunedin.

Why/How:
According to deputies, 63-year-old School Crossing Guard David Dufresne became engaged in a verbal argument with his step-daughter, 44-year-old Christine Pletz.

Deputies say that at some point during the argument, School Crossing Guard Dufresne went to his bedroom and retrieved a firearm. Deputies say he returned to her bedroom and fired off one round towards the dresser.

Pletz was not injured.

Deputies say Dufresne went to the kitchen, while Pletz called 9-1-1. Moments later, Dufresne also called 9-1-1.

Deputies responded to the residence. Dufresne was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

Deputies say Dufresne appeared intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Deputies say the nature of the argument pertained to living arrangements.

The investigation continues.
