What:
Detectives assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit are warning gas station customers of a credit card skimmer that was found on a gas pump in Dunedin.

When:  
The incident occurred sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016. The incident was reported to deputies on Tuesday, March 1, 2016.

Where:
The incident occurred at the Rally Convenient Store and gas station located at 1625 Main Street in Dunedin.

How/Why:
Detectives assigned to the Economic Crimes Unit are warning gas station customers of a credit card skimmer that was found on a gas pump in Dunedin.

Detectives say that the skimming device was found at the Rally Convenient Store and gas station in Dunedin, on Monday, February 29, 2016. The device was installed on the pump sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 4:50 p.m. that same day.

Credit card skimmers are electric circuits that are illegally placed inside of gas pumps that allow thieves to secretly record customer’s credit or debit card information.

Detectives are asking customers who bought gas at the Rally gas station to check with their financial institutions to see if there are any unauthorized bank transactions. If so, they should notify the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office at (727) 582-6200.
