Seven members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office DUI Unit received awards at MADD’s 1st Annual “Thank You Pinellas” Awards Dinner on Thursday, February 25, 2016, at the Gulfport Casino.

The award ceremony was hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving of West Central Florida, to honor those who went above and beyond to further MADD’s mission in Pinellas County in 2015.

Sergeant Michael Paniagua received the award for Outstanding Dedication to Fight Drugged Driving Award for his role in helping to coordinate, plan, and instruct portions of the Drug Recognition Expert School that was brought to Pinellas in 2015.

Corporal Ronald Blair, Deputy Tiffany Ashcom, Deputy Vinny Galati, Deputy Stephen Kaselak, Deputy Compton Persaud and Deputy Wayne Wagner all received the Century Award for making more than one hundred DUI arrests in the 2015 calendar year.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office was also recognized for being a presenting partner at the Pinellas Walk Like MADD event that was held on November 21, 2015.

The aim of the event was to not only recognize achievements, but to increase MADD’s reach and scope of services in Pinellas County so they can expand their underage drinking prevention programs, victim services and law enforcement support. MADD’s mission is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.
