What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a CVS Store in St. Petersburg. Detectives have been working in conjunction with Pinellas Park Police on this investigation.

When:
The suspect was arrested shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015.

The attempted armed robbery occurred at about 9:13 p.m. on April 15, 2015.

Where:
The crime occurred at the CVS store located at 5405 49th Street North in St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
According to investigators at about 9:13 p.m. on April 15, 2015, the suspect entered the CVS store, approached the counter, brandished a knife and demanded cash from the clerk. When the clerk delayed in complying, the suspect fled on foot.

Detectives say the suspect wore a dark grey or black hooded sweat shirt with the hood over the head and cinched around the face. The suspect wore dark colored pants; a black glove on the right hand a white glove on the left.

Detectives began working with the Pinellas Park Police Department due to similarities in cases they were investigating. Pinellas Park Police continues its investigation.

This week Sheriff's Office detectives received a tip identifying the suspect. The resulting follow up, led to the arrest of the suspect near her home just after 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015.  The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Rebecca Sparks. Sparks was taken into custody for one-count armed robbery and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.
