The female was located on Indian Rocks Beach, 1000 Gulf Boulevard.

When:
Deputies responded to the area at approximately 10:46 PM on February 25, 2015.

How/Why:
On February, 25, 2015 at approximately 10:46 PM deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office responded to Indian Rocks Beach, 1000 Gulf Boulevard in reference to a deceased female. The female was found along the shoreline of Indian Rocks Beach.

During their investigation they learned Indian Shores Police Department, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the United States Coast Guard had been searching the area for a swimmer who had reportedly gone missing at approximately 5:38 PM. Witnesses reported seeing either a male or female swimming but struggling. FWC and USCG did not locate anyone in the area.

Detectives were able to identify the female, Sherry Lefler, through fingerprints. The death does not appear suspicious in nature.

The investigation is on-going.
