Officer Involved Shooting

**Update**

Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide unit served a second search warrant at the residence of Jareem Roach, located at 199 Grand Blvd. Apt. 5 in Tarpon Springs. During the execution of the search warrant the 9mm handgun used by Roach was located in an attic area at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 24, 2014.

No further details at this time.

Arrested for Felon in Possession of a Weapon; and an unrelated FTA for No Valid Drivers License out of Hillsborough County.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit have arrested a Tarpon Springs man for Felon in Possession of a Weapon after he fired shots towards the roadway as Marco Parilla was fleeing the scene following the fatal shooting of Tarpon Springs Police Officer Charles Kondek. (For further information see news release #14-343.)

When:
The suspect was arrested at about 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014.

Where:
The suspect was arrested at a motel in New Port Richey.

Why/How:
Through their investigation detectives learned that the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Jareem Roach, was in the New Port Richey area.

Member of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit along with deputies from the Pasco County Sheriff's Office made contact with Roach at the Royal Palm Inn located at 6523 US Highway 19 North in New Port Richey.

Deputies say Roach was cooperative and agreed to speak with them.

Following the interview, Roach was arrested on a warrant issued earlier on December 22nd, 2014 for Felon in Possession of a Weapon.

Detectives say based on interviews and physical evidence obtained at the scene, Roach fired shots toward the roadway as Marco Parillo fled the scene following the fatal shooting of Officer Charles Kondek.

The weapon has not yet been recovered.

The investigation continues.
