What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a vehicle vs. bicyclist crash in Dunedin. The cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash.

When:
The crash occurred at about 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Where:
The crash occurred at the intersection of Alternate 19 and Tradewinds Drive in Dunedin.

Why/How:
According to investigators 78-year-old Ann Tamboe was driving her Chrysler 200 north on Alternate 19 turning left onto Tradewinds Drive. 59-year-old Catherine Ashenfelter was on her bicycle headed south on Alternate 19 in the bike lane. Deputies say as Tamboe turned left onto Tradewinds Drive, she struck Ashenfelter.

Ashenfelter was transported by air to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

Tamboe was not injured.

Deputies say neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash.

The investigation continues.
