The victims are three minors: one male and two females; all were under the age of 12 when the crime was committed. The suspect was known to the victims. Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victims.

What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a St. Petersburg man for L&L Molestation and for exposing three minors to pornographic materials.

When:
The suspect was arrested on July 25, 2014.

The investigation began on July 1, 2014.

Where:
The crime occurred at a private residence in St. Petersburg.

Why/How:
According to investigators, the male victim disclosed the inappropriate behavior of the suspect to his father. The father reported the crime to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit began to investigate on July 1, 2014.

Through their investigation, detectives determined that 67-year-old Roger Lyle Kent had, over a period of over 4 to 5 years, exposed the three children to pornographic video materials. In addition, detectives say Kent touched the boy in an inappropriate sexual manner; and made the girls touch him in an inappropriate manner. This activity repeated itself on multiple ocassions.

Detectives interviewed the suspect at the Sheriff’s Administration Building on July 25, 2014 and subsequently arrested him for Three-Counts Lewd and Lascivious Molestation; and Protection of Minors; Prohibition of Certain Acts in Connection With Obscenity. The suspect was transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident. The booking photo of the suspect will be available once the booking process is complete.

The investigation continues.
