What:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit responded to investigate a child drowning at the Bay Meadows Apartment Complex in Feather Sound. The child was found in a lake nearby his apartment. He was transported to a local hospital and pronounced deceased. Detectives say the drowning appears to be accidental in nature.

When:
Deputies responded to the incident at about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014.

Where:
Deputies responded to 13705 Feather Sound Circle East, Unit 303 in Clearwater.

Why/How:
Deputies responded to a call of a drowning. According to investigators, the family noticed 3 year-old Ayush Anantharaman was not in the apartment and went looking for him. Deputies say the family searched for approximately 15 minutes, when Ajit Anantharaman, Ayush’s father, located him floating in a lake behind their apartment complex.

The boy was immediately pulled out of the water. Fire rescue responded and attempted to revive him. Anantharaman was transported to All Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 7:17 p.m. on June 24th.

As is standard procedure in incidents involving children, detectives from the Sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Unit responded to investigate.

At this time detectives say the incident appears to be accidental in nature.

The investigation continue.
