The crimes occurred at the parking lot of the Sweetbay Supermarket located at 10370 Seminole Boulevard in Seminole. The suspect was later apprehended in the area of Gladys Street and 19th Street in Largo.

According to deputies, the suspect identified as 37-year-old Anthony Eugene Sutton, first attempted a carjacking at the parking lot of the Sweetbay Supermarket in Largo. Detectives say the victim, 54-year-old Michelle Hingley was getting out of her car with her children when Sutton approached and pointed a gun at her. Hingley was able to run away with her children and the keys to her vehicle.

Sutton next approached the vehicle of 82-year-old Gerald Kolar, who was parked just outside the Sweetbay waiting tor his wife to come out of the store. Detectives say the suspect approached the driver’s side tapped on the window, pointed a gun at Kolar and ordered him out of the car. Kolar complied and the suspect fled in the victim’s vehicle, a 2003 Buick.

An undercover detective subsequently spotted a vehicle matching the description in the area of Clearwater-Largo Road and Mehlenbacher Road. Marked patrol units responded to the area and a brief pursuit ensued. The Sheriff’s Flight Unit helicopter assisted and supported deputies in the pursuit.
