Deputies have arrested a suspect for attempted murder after he stabbed another man and threatened two women with a knife.

The suspect was arrested at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2012.

The stabbing occurred at about 3:36 a.m. on June 26 , 2012.

The suspect was arrested in a wooded area behind SweetBay Supermarket located at 4665 66th St North in Kenneth City.

The crime occurred at 5490 68th Lane North, Apartment B, St. Petersburg.

At about 3:36 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26th, 2012, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at 5490 68th Lane North, Apt B – in the French Villas area of St. Petersburg. Upon arrival deputies spoke to the complainant 20-year-old Mikethia Booth who advised that 33-year-old Kevin Vicks had stabbed her ex-boyfriend 21-year-old Robert Warren; and threatened her and another woman, 37-year-old Demetria Leggett with a knife.

Booth told deputies that they were all gathered around the dining room table when Vicks became upset, went to the kitchen and grabbed a large knife, threatened to kill Warren and threatened to stab all of them while holding up the knife. Deputies say Leggett initally tried to intervene by stepping in between Warren and Vicks, but Vicks pushed her aside and began to swing the knife at Warren striking him several times. The women ran outside the house, and shortly thereafter Warren exited the residence and fled with his injuries. Vicks also came out of the home and fled, but not before threatening the women once again and then leaving the knife inside the residence.

According to deputies the argument was apparently over Booth, whom Vicks had previously dated and now believed was currently dating Warren.

Warren was located by deputies in a nearby apartment, where he had knocked on the door and requested assistance. Warren was transported to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. He received multiple stab wounds to the face, neck and shoulder area.

The women were not injured.

On Friday, June 29, 2012, deputies received information that the suspect had been spotted near 4665 66th St. North in Kenneth City. Deputies apprehended the suspect in a wooded area behind the Sweetbay Supermarket. Deputies say Vicks resisted in coming out of the wooded area and deputies deployed the electronic control device in order to subdue him.

Vicks was arrested for one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest without violence. He was then transported to the Pinellas County Jail without further incident.

The investigation continues.

The suspect’s photo will be available once the booking process is complete.
