Deputies are investigating an apparent accidental drowning of an Indiana Man in North Redington Beach.

Deputies responded to the call at about 3:45 p.m. on June 10, 2012.

The victim was found in the Gulf at about 17100 Gulf Boulevard.

According to deputies 56-year-old Kenton Parker went for a swim in the gulf with family friend, 21-year-old Gary Ford. The two went in the water at about 16900 Gulf Boulevard and swam out to the first buoy. They then began having trouble staying above water. Parker tried to hold on to the buoy and told Ford to go back to shore and get help. Ford swam back and called for assistance.

Seminole Fire Department responded and located Parker in the Gulf at about 17100 Gulf Boulevard. Parker was unresponsive. Seminole Fire transported Parker to Largo Medical Center, Indian Rocks Beach Campus. Parker was pronounced deceased at the hospital at 4:30 p.m..

The incident appears to be accidental in nature.

Deputies say Mr. Parker and his family and friends have been coming to vacation in the area for about 15 or 16 years.

The investigation continues.
